New Orleans’ own Tank and the Bangas have just confirmed their highly anticipated North American headlining tour for 2024. Kicking off on January 14 in Kansas City, MO, the band will hit major cities across the U.S., including Los Angeles, Nashville, and Houston. While the tour is an exciting next chapter for the critically acclaimed band, there’s one glaring omission from the schedule: a dedicated New Orleans stop.
Fans in the Big Easy might be feeling a bit left out, but there’s hope yet. While there’s no solo NOLA date on the books at the moment, locals have a chance to catch them live at the upcoming NOLA Funk Fest on October 20. And, there’s been speculation that after their festival performance, the band may add a New Orleans headlining show later on. Considering their strong roots in the city and love for performing at home, it wouldn’t be surprising to see an additional date pop up.
Beyond their tour news, Tank and the Bangas continue to make waves with their deluxe edition of The Heart, The Mind, The Soul, a three-part spoken word project that was recently released on Verve Forecast. The collection explores personal and poetic themes, with Tank expressing her deep connection to poetry, which she calls her “first love.” The deluxe edition comes with a bonus track, “Is It Me You’re Calling,” and fans can now enjoy the album in a physical release with exclusive indie and neon vinyl options.
In addition to their headlining dates, Tank and the Bangas will also be supporting fellow New Orleans icon Trombone Shorty for a 12-date run in spring 2025. One of the most exciting stops will be their performance at ACL Live at Moody Theater in Austin, TX, continuing their long-standing tradition of captivating audiences both at home and abroad.
While it may be disappointing for New Orleans fans to not see a dedicated tour date, the city’s love for Tank and the Bangas is undeniable. With a performance set for NOLA Funk Fest and the potential for a local show after that, it’s likely the band won’t keep their hometown waiting for too long.
So stay tuned, New Orleans — Tank and the Bangas may just have a headlining homecoming show in store after all.
