New Orleans native and The Revivalists frontman David Shaw is set to bring his deeply personal and introspective new solo album, Take A Look Inside, to life with a tour that kicks off in his adopted home of New Orleans. The highly anticipated “Take A Look Inside Tour” launches on October 31 at the historic Tipitina’s, a venue that has been a cornerstone for local music and culture.
Shaw’s latest album, released through his own Yokoko Records, is a heartfelt exploration of life’s complexities, love, and personal growth. The album features standout tracks like the upbeat yet introspective “When You Love Somebody” and the powerful social commentary piece “Alabama.” Recorded at Esplanade Studios in New Orleans, Take A Look Inside showcases Shaw’s signature blend of acoustic guitar, soulful piano, and bluesy rhythms, capturing the essence of the Crescent City.
Reflecting on the themes of the album, Shaw shares, “I hope people can listen to this album when they need some kind of medicine. I want it to be like a trusted friend you can lean on who never judges you.” As a new father and husband, Shaw has infused the album with the wisdom and emotions he’s gathered through these experiences, making this a personal milestone in his career.
Following the New Orleans show, Shaw’s tour will travel through the U.S., with special guests The Crowe Boys, Leah Blevins, and Angel White joining select dates. Shaw is also slated for a top-billed solo appearance at the Austin City Limits Music Festival on October 6 and October 13.
